Evan Wilson is a composer and guitarist, writing and performing for film, tv, dance, theater and clubs.

Evan is lending his distinctive musical talents to an increasing number of today’s independent films. Concerned with the mediocrity of much of current film music, Evan is intent on writing high-quality music capable of elevating a movie to new heights. His focused approach to crafting new music has made him a sought-after composer by many talented directors.

Recently, the composer was praised for his score to the movie Salvage, which premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and is now available internationally at all major retailers. Other recent projects include Maverick Entertainment’s movie Tryst, and Lions Gate’s Rise of the Dead, both releasing internationally on DVD. Evan is now working on the upcoming Latino thriller, A Kiss of Chaos, starring Adam Rodriguez and Judy Marte. In addition, he is helping to score Miguel Coyula’s Memorias del Desarollo, a follow-up to the Cuban classic Memorias del Subdesarrollo (1968). Evan is always on the lookout for inspiring and stimulating projects regardless of genre, and looks forward to helping directors achieve their visions.

In addition to scoring for film, Evan is a prolific composer of concert, theatrical, and dance works. He has the unique ability to synthesize his many stylistic influences to create music that is highly original. He draws from a musical vocabulary that encompasses African, Asian, European, and American styles. His song “Autophagy” was an integral part of Joanie Schultz’s play of the same name, premiering as part of the Drama League’s 2007 DirectorFest. Currently Evan’s piece, Stand Still, is on tour with the Sasha Soreff Dance Company.

Evan graduated with a Bachelor’s of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory and went on to do additional course work at the Juilliard School. He also has studied privately with Juilliard professor Kendall Briggs. Evan is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP).

As a guitarist, Evan has performed with his group, The Infinity Quartet, a vehicle for his original compositions. He also plays with many other highly respected groups and musicians. His guitar playing began with the blues - a musical spirit that is now part of his subconscious. Studying the jazz and avant-garde traditions at the Oberlin Conservatory added harmonic, melodic, and theoretical aspects to his playing. More recently, Evan has incorporated a diverse array of African styles to his fretwork. The amazing guitarwork from Madagascar, particularly the incomparable D'Gary, is an exceptionally strong influence. Evan's guitar work, like his compositions, fuses all of these influences into a unique style.
